How to use it?
Before the transaction, a SMS will be sent on your phone, once you get the numeric code you have to type it and the transaction is complete This is how an OTP is used. Now people have found ways to get this OTP to access your account and steal all the money from it.
How they do this?
Let me explain a few simple ways to avoid this. Once you receive an OTP, never share it with anyone and keep it with you only. Secondly, when you receive an OTP anyone can call or send you a WhatsApp, email and say that they are from a bank and ask you to share your OTP .
These people may not really be from the bank. As real banks never call and ask for OTPs. They are fraudsters and you must not give them details. Be very careful while carrying out online transactions. When you select a product make sure the name of the company and the price are all the same. Only then confirm the transaction. Put in your card details, your OTP, check the name of the company and all the details. If you feel there is any discrepancy, then cancel the transaction.
You must remember, you only receive an OTP to pay money. If someone asks you for your OTP inorder to give you money, do not share it with them. If they have to send money they will receive the OTP and then they can pay you. So remember never share your OTP. Only download the trusted Apps. There are many fake Apps that conduct credit card frauds. You may have downloaded a calculator App and saved it on your phone. When you are using your phone, fraudulanted companies through the calculator can view details like your CVV number, OTP and steal money from your bank account.
So be very careful. If you have problems with your bank, check their website for the customer care number and then place the call. Do not use any other number to call them. As they will ask for your card details, OTP, password, etc under the pretence of solving your problem. Do not give it to them. This is very important and will keep you safe.
